Are you open on Dec 24, 2018??
You cannot find Salmon Oshi like this anywhere else in the city. Pairs fantastically with a sparkling white wine. Accompanied with a heart felt note, the experience exceeds expectations.
MoreThis place is pretty small and compact. I literally just go there eat and leave because I saw people waiting in line outside for table. Not the best place to chill and hangout with friends while sampling sushi especially during dinner hours. Price wise is slightly above average but if you're looking to try aburi (pressed) sushi then the ones served here is pretty decent. Would still recommend trying this place out for the aburi sushi experience.
MoreIt was good. Tempura batter was a little heavy. Fish was very good and aburi sushi selection was very interesting and tasty. Tea was provided free of charge.
MoreDelicious food and excellent service! It's not a huge space but the food and service are great!Just thinking about it makes me hungry...
MoreFood is prepared carefully and elegantly! Very Very good and service.
I have come here twice, and it has become my go to mid-level sushi restaurant! Unfortunately, they’re usually extremely busy and have a very small location which has had the smell of stale frying oil both times that I went. The service is good and quite fast and despite the minor setback of a deficit of space and a surplus of customers, they do their best to make it work.
MoreWhat an interesting menu. Not your typical such spot. Lots of varying dishes and specials. A very crowded spot and very popular with locals. Made it before the rush and the line ups were incredible but worthwhile. One of dishes (pictured) was a crispy seafood roll. Slightly spicy but incredible. Will definitely return. We also ordered an uni dish only to be told towards end of our dishes that they did not ha 've it on their menu. Bummer. Thats why they lost a star.
MoreGood quality but a little crowded
Food is good but quality is still a notch or two from Japanese food. Price is very good as compared to other restaurants providing Japanese food. Presentation of food is excellent. Place is rather small and crampy. A good place for quick meal but not a place to sit out and relax.
MoreSimply delicious. The best affordable oshisushi in Vancouver. Small but comfortable place. Friendly servers who never forgot to give us more tea. Strongly recommended.
MoreFood was good but service was not that great. It’s a small location so there’s often a line, and you can feel that they want to rush you out of there as soon as possible. Prices were also on the higher end, but the taste was fairly good.
MoreMy go to spot for oshi sushi in Vancouver! Quality is similar as to what you would get at places like Miku and Minami but at a much more affordable price point. This location is small so that’s the downside but service is attentive and quick. Would also recommend visiting their location in Burnaby.
MoreAmazing sushi! Delicious, affordable, great service and comes with more soy sauce packets than you will ever need! If you like sushi then this is the place for you.
MoreI have to say, I'm pretty impressed. They have aburi, usually see someone torching something in the back there. It's kinda a typical Korean sushi place with decent rolls with sauciness. But my fave rolls, the spicy scallop were quite to my tasting. A good kick. The right texture. Same for the spicy tuna. Melted in my mouth. The aburi salmon was good, but not the best I've ever had. Tempura was fair, nothing to write home about. But overall good sushi. Friendly staff.
MoreA place that is known for their aburi; we went with their “famous” $65 aburi combo. It’s not bad for fusion cuisine, well presented and definitely tasty, though it takes some time for the staff to prepare. Some concern for the cleanliness of the restaurant; the place does not instill confidence in that department - floors appear dirty, one single washroom. Disorganized layout/storage, small seating area.
MoreExcellent Aburi Sushi friendly staff quick service down side always busy but that is good food will always be fresh Aburi Sushi “... Literally translated, Aburi means “flame seared”, When flame is applied to sushi, the heat changes the sushi’s flavour and texture to create something new and exciting...”. This is very true order Aburi Combo
MoreTheir food is great but service is SO slow. Takes 1.5hrs to get your order.
I’ve been a regular customer at this restaurant for years but service and the quality of the food has been going down constantly over this period . Only today was hoping to get a fast take out got there at least 15 min before opening to make sure I am the fist in and out of the place but after waiting I was told that the customers in the restaurant are way more important and they treated me as a second class costumer, was only to be served after everyone else present had received their food, and I should expect to wait an additional 30 to 45 minutes, sorry but this is simply unattainable costumer service. I’ve call the restaurant to address the issue with management but no one speaks English on the staff, this is getting worse and worse, all the lady that answered was that this was the restaurant ‘policy’ for a small place they definitely act like it’s a multinational. Then it’s my policy to tell everyone how BAD the Service is at Green Leaf Sushi recently
MoreSeptember 13, 2019 - 5:30pm. I almost swallowed a piece of blue plastic thread, about 2” in length, that was hidden inside my seaweed salad. They didn’t seem too worried and they did not bother taking it off the bill.I expected much more from them, especially considering my previous dinners were nice. I doubt I will be back. I won’t pay good money for plastic in my food.
MoreAburi combo is the go to! Always good sushi but always busy too! Expect a wait if you go anytime after they open at 5pm for dinner, but worth the wait if you're not first in.
MoreVery special sushi place. Must visit place in vancouver.
Best sushi in the neighborhood by far! I would give them five stars, but only complaint is undercooked beef on two occasions (even for my group who likes medium rare). Still a great place that gets packed for good reason.
MoreIt's great food. But please how do I ask for no soy sauce or napkins or chopsticks. Can you please make that the default choice instead. I just got 7 soy sauce packets that I don't need.
MoreGood sushi in W Broadway, but they are most likely to be delayed both on pick up and delivery. It happened to us even before COVID times.
MoreVery delicious. Personally, this is my favourite aburi place. Very friendly service.
MoreThis isn’t the traditional kind of sushi but a more fusion and creative Japanese cuisine. The restaurant is run by Korean crew and is always full house. My family’s really enjoyed the Sushi as my kids asked me to come again in the same week. Comparing to the traditional Sushi, the taste was stronger in a good way and the ingredients on top of the sushi was more complex. If you are looking for something different from the traditional Japanese cuisine, this might be a good option.
MorePretty unique place with inventive menu items. Would not recommend the tuna aburi as it tasted like peanut butter on rice. Most of everything else we tasted was good.
MoreThis was recommended to me by many YVR foodies. The pricing is good and aburi sushi is very popular; Green leaf does it very well.We ordered the platter which came with a good assortment. You can't go wrong. It was for $65. but it came with 6 kinds with 6 pieces each. That puts it at about 10.83 per roll (though its pressed). I liked that it was't as heavy on the rice and it was a bit balanced. The toro we ordered wasn't the best, but it also only costed us $2 per piece when we got the 9 piece (for $18).I was less impressed with their Uni Aglio E Olio ($18). I had expected more of an uni sauce, but it was literally pasta with uni on top. So if you like it seperate this may be for you, but I was hoping for more of a fusion dish.We also ordered the mushroom "kinoko" ishiyaki which I would personally not recommend. I can see how some other people might like it, but it did not suit my taste buds.
MoreYou can find sushi at an affordable price compared to other sushi places in the city. Quality of the product and service was quite decent. I recommend this place if you are going with a group.
MoreLove the food. Also love that I can UberEats it. There might be a bit of a wait and service can be a bit slow as it starts to get busy. The OMG roll is a fave.
MoreThis place is good and quick to eat but its not comparable to mikus salmon oishi
Ordered takeout once and have been dying to do so again! They were open on Christmas Day (bonus points)! I am still dreaming about their avocado salad, hands down the best I’ve ever had from any Japanese restaurant! They had this beautiful wasabi miso dressing that was just incredible and it tasted very fresh, unlike some places where the salad is just an after thought!! Also ordered a spicy tuna roll and salmon avocado roll which were fresh, tasty and a generous size (but not so big you can’t have it in one bite). Spicy agedashi tofu was also nice, a little different than I’m used to but still tasty!
MoreIt was a bit of a wait because there were 9 of us and they don’t take reservations. Three small tables put together was barely enough room and a couple of cups of tea got spilled. Because of the large group, we were told to add 18% tip. The sushi was pretty good, especially the aburi. I really liked the one with alfalfa sprouts. Nothing was spectacular tasting despite good reviews from others. And it was pricey. I might return, though, if in the area.
MoreBest sushi in Kitsilano. Salmon oshi is delicious but even the regular rolls are made with care and attention to detail. Can't go wrong with this place, well worth trying out.
MoreDelicious food, and not too expensive considering the quality. I have had better sushi some places in Vancouver but this is in my top 5.
MoreAbsolutely disgusting. Sushi was fishy, smelled fishy and was entirely inedible. I gave it to my dog. I would avoid - clearly there is no consistency in quality based on the other reviews.
MoreSmall cozy restaurant. Really busy. Reasonable price.
The sashimi here is great quality and very fresh, and was the best thing we ordered. Unfortunately, I was not as impressed with the rolls and salmon & tuna aburi. I had read some of the reviews prior to visiting this restaurant and was very underwhelmed with the rolls we ordered. It could just have been an off night for the restaurant, not sure. Either way, I wouldn't recommend anyone go out of their way for this place.
MoreFantastic sushi! I would have loved to have tried more items and I wish the menu was better online cause it is hard to order takeout without a decent menu! It would be easier if they numbered items, would cause less confusion! The scallop roll was amazing and the aburu sushi was really outstanding! The salmon and tuna sashimi was also to die for.
MoreVery small location so waiting is not uncommon but the sushi there is amazing. Same quality as Miku but much cheaper. Staff are all very nice. The aburi platter is worth the price especially with a group of people.
MoreAlways happy with my orders from here!
Been to the Broadway and Coquitlam location multiple times. The combo platter is definitely must get. However those who are wary to oil should be concerned that the dish is VERY oily as it is baked. I'd say including drinks, should budget roughly $50-60/pp but for good reason, it's the best aburi period.Tons of parking at the Coquitlam location (as Lougheed Mall is right there as well). Be prepared for a wait for the Broadway location during peak hours.
MoreThe food here is excellent. Their Aburi here is really good and their service equally as good. Their staff is friendly and professional. The one complain is that their restaurant size is tiny. They really can't hold a lot of people at one time. And they can fit two tables of 6 largest at any given time. All the other tables are smaller in size. 2-4 max. That's the only real issue here. So if the place is packed. Expect to be waiting anywhere from 20-40 min for a table. Their ambiance is OK. But not the best place to be taking photos of food cauze their lighting isn't the best. Because their food quality here is super good at decent prices (for fish), this review gets a four stars. Highly recommended even with the long wait times. Got to try at least once if on the west side of Vancouver.
MoreMUST TRY ABURI SUSHI!! One of the best aburi sushi in town
Still better than 90% of the sushi shops in metro van.
The food is better than the fast food but still the quality is not as the same level of the price.
MoreThis place is great. A high quality and delicious pieces, with some that are genuinely unique and creative. It's also about 30% cheaper than you would pay for similar quality food at other sushi restaraunts -- it really is surprisingly cheap.
Morefood is only thing that is good here. This time, they missed one of our orders, so we have to go back to pick it up again. Aslo after I repeat to them please put different orders in different boxes, they still put them in one box. .Last time, they only gave us 2 chopsticks after I told him we have 4 people. They also have forgotten put miso soup twice. I don't know what to say already.
MoreSo charming! And very fast service even in the rush hours.
